What We Do
Our projects
Our organization is involved in numerous projects across Howard County
We fulfill our mission through three core pillars: Advocate, Engage, and Serve.
Advocate: We represent the interests and rights of local Muslims in civic and public spheres, collaborating with partners such as the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) and local government bodies to address key community concerns.
Engage: We foster active civic participation through educational forums, community surveys, public policy awareness, and collaborative initiatives with organizations like Prepare for Success and the Horizon Foundation.
Serve: We deliver direct grassroots support to our neighbors, including regular food pantry distributions, youth empowerment programs, and community support resources for families in need.
Education
We collaborate directly with HCPSS leadership and local Muslim parents to cultivate inclusive, welcoming school environments. Through this partnership, HCMC consults on policy matters, advocates for Muslim-friendly school programs, and ensures the voices of Muslim students and families are actively represented in county education.
We partner with Prepare for Success to ensure local students start the school year with the tools they need to succeed. Through joint outreach and supply drives, we help provide essential school supplies to Howard County children and families facing financial hardship.
Health care
Partnering with the Horizon Foundation, we work to advance health equity across Howard County. Our collaboration focuses on improving community well-being, with a dedicated emphasis on expanding access to healthy, culturally appropriate food options for families in need.
Awareness
Engaging and understanding the needs of the Howard County Community
We are committed to elevating understanding and bringing key community concerns to light. Through localized surveys, public forums, and collaborative dialogue, we gather vital insights into the needs of Howard County Muslims, empowering us to raise awareness, educate public institutions, and advocate effectively on behalf of our community.
Leadership
Guiding and empowering the community
We invest in cultivating proactive civic engagement and empowering local voices. By hosting educational workshops, facilitating civic discussions, and connecting community members with leadership opportunities, we build pathways for Muslim residents to serve as impactful leaders, representatives, and advocates across Howard County.
